Mazda 2.5T Broken Turbo Ejector Fitting: Purge During Boost Codes and Repair
A small broken plastic fitting on the turbocharger can create a surprisingly expensive problem on certain Mazda 2.5L turbocharged vehicles.
This fitting is part of the turbocharger’s EVAP ejector system. It may be called a turbo ejector, turbo vacuum fitting, EVAP fitting, turbo hose nipple, hose barb, or simply the plastic fitting on the turbo.

What Is the Mazda 2.5T Turbo Ejector?
The ejector is part of the evaporative-emissions, or EVAP, purge system.
During normal operation without boost, engine vacuum can help pull fuel vapors from the EVAP system into the engine. However, when a turbocharged engine is under boost, the intake manifold becomes pressurized instead of producing vacuum.
Boosted EVAP systems use an ejector, which works as a venturi device, to create the vacuum needed to continue purging fuel vapors while the engine is under boost. Manufacturer OBD documentation describes the ejector as the device used to generate purge vacuum during boosted operation.
The ejector itself performs an important function, but the factory Mazda assembly includes a small plastic hose connection that can be easily damaged.
Why Does the Factory Plastic Fitting Break?
The factory fitting is exposed to years of engine-bay heat and repeated heating and cooling cycles. As the plastic ages, it can become hard and brittle.
The fitting commonly breaks when:

The Code Does Not Automatically Prove the Fitting Is Broken

This part does not fit naturally aspirated Mazda 2.5L engines.
