Honda License Plate Bracket Spacer: When to Use It and How to Install It
Share
Some models may require the included spacer for extra clearance. Use it only if the factory tab or lip prevents the bracket from sitting flush.
The custom fitment spacer is included with every Elite Engineering Honda Foreman, Rancher and Rubicon license plate bracket. It is optional: if your bracket sits flat and clears the factory tab without it, install the bracket without the spacer.
How to tell whether you need the spacer
Compare your mounting area with the photos below and check the bracket's fit before tightening the mounting bolts. If the factory tab or lip contacts the bracket and makes it tilt or prevents it from seating flat, use the spacer. Do not force the bracket flat by tightening the bolts against the obstruction.
Check the actual clearance on your machine rather than relying only on its model name or year. Rear mounting details and accessories can vary.
Spacer orientation and installation

- Position the spacer between the bracket and the ATV mounting surface, matching the pictured orientation and aligning both mounting holes.
- Fit the appropriate mounting bolts through the bracket and spacer. Confirm correct thread engagement before tightening; do not force a bolt that does not engage correctly.
- Check that the bracket seats flat, clears the tab or lip, and remains secure. The spacer provides clearance without bending or cutting the factory tab.
- Mount the plate and check rear visibility and clearance around nearby components and accessories. Recheck mounting hardware after the first ride.
If the bracket fits without the spacer
The spacer is not required when the bracket sits flat and clears the factory tab or lip. Keep it for future use if your setup changes.
